Default Last day success

My friend took this buck today on crown land west of Edm. The road hunters were out in force and some very aggressive and ignorant. this guy walked to within 30yds of where my friend was siting in a cut block waiting. about 900yrd off the road. we skidded him out easy peasy on the Jet sled and used the hoist for the dirty work

Default Congratulations!

Great to see you were well equipped for the task and no doubt cleaned up all the mess by the road. Might want to invest in a gambrel and you could do the job even easier. Always find that coring the anus first and removing everything from there toward the neck works best IMHO. Elevating the hind end allows the chest cavity to drain which is likely full of blood if shot up front.

I hang my deer this way on purpose to be honest . I core the anus first while the deer is on the ground . Then lift it and cut out the neck and skin the deer from throat to crotch about 3 inches wide. Then I split the brisket ,then open the belly and everything pulls down and out the bottom clean as can be (this deer was neck shot so his insides were not damaged. Also that was not on a road that was in the back corner of a lease site out of sight and no we do not leave paper towels or gloves in the gut pile .

PS; if you want or need a gambrel let me know , I build em all the time for people
