When you take a person fishing

Years ago Airstream Caravans were stopping in our community

i was going river fishing with my buddy Tim the next day

decided to stop in and ask if any one want to come fishing

a few guys said try trailer #74

older guy and his wife came to the door

he said he would love to but it was his anniversary

she said your going as she was not feeling great and would stay

the next morning we met him at the Little Berland river(map i gave)

down we went to where the Big Berland confluence is

i made sure he was set up right and gave him the first cast

right away the Bull trout came swirling out from under old bridge

as it hit i yelled its on and he flipped it up on bridge in one motion

well the bridge was only a quarter of what it should be and slanted

so the fish bounce around a bit and got off the hook

as it was flipping and heading toward the river i made a grab n got it

when we sent him home he had his limit of nice big Mountain Whitefish too

the next at work i got a phone call from my Bro at his garage

he had 11 guys from the Caravan looking for me

still talk about that day with Tim

he had a special day of fishing

Taking a stranger out fishing is fun.

We were at waterhen lake one summer for a couple weeks, a German family was next to us...the grandpa loved to fish but it was too expensive in Germany.
They’d rented a boat but didn’t know how to catch “our” fish in German tackle.

I gave him rod and lures and he caught pike to his hearts content. We had a couple fish feeds, cooked in cast iron over the fire...he was in absolute heaven.
Gave us a standing offer to visit Germany any time. That kind of thing makes for lifetime memories.

I love that story as much as I love your 1978 afro ...... that was superfly my brother.

I have to saw, some of the best memories I have is taking a new person, or a kid fishing and just seeing them so excited and it brings back memories.

In the 80's We would ride our bikes down the hill near Inglewood Golf Club and fish the bow river as kids ...... all you needed is a rod, reel, and one of those single tray tackle boxes with a few lures and we were in business.

40 years ago, my wife's great uncle from London England came out for a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Western Canada. This guy was an antique dealer, and looked & acted like an antique! I had offered to take him trout fishing on his visit, so he was fully kitted out in tweeds, cane fishing basket, bamboo rod and an extensive collection of classic British flys. Even a flat cap, briar pipe and a silver flask! We went to a tiny lake alongside the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park, and in the shadow of Mt. Athabasca, he caught beautiful little mountain brookies all day long. Every fly he put on was eagerly taken by these cooperative little fish, while he giggled and tugged at his flask. It's a day, and an image that I've never forgotten, and one that he talked about until his dying day.
