2023 NHL Playoff Thread
So, who's gonna win?
Most people have Boston - Oilers in the finals, what say the experts here?
I think Boston can be beat, not sure by who or when but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Or disappointed.
I'd be pretty happy if the Oil made the finals but I'd be even happier if they rang that bell. We aren't cup favorites on anyone's list so it's an uphill battle for sure, they definitely have work to do. Making the finals is anything BUT a given. Vegas and the Avs are no joke, LA is a GOOD team too, I think the Oil are gonna have their hands full.
If it is a Boston - Oiler final all we can hope for is that whoever plays Boston along the way beats the heck out of them physically.
Man what a GREAT time of year playoffs are, optimism and hopes run high.
Know who's definitely NOT gonna win?

So my predictions prior to the AO Playoff Pool starting Monday. Always an upset as most know...I'm sure many that are participating will change their picks as a result of my "expertise"...hehe...
FLO will upset and win over BOS.
EDM in 7 against a really good LA, but will loose the second round.
WPG will beat Vegas.
TOR will upset TB.
COL all the way to the Final against NYR...

As always, it will take a solid defense, and a strong goaltender. I wouldn't be surprised to see Colorado repeat.

It's anybody's call this year, a tender get's hot and they can steal a series or 2 out of the east I think it will be Boston with the dark horse Toronto, out of the west I think Colorado with the dark horse Edmonton.
But the way things are going this year it could be none of those 4 teams, going to be fun to watch whatever happens.

Too soft of a team to go the distance. One super star stubs his toe and they are done.

Vegas snd Toronto just don’t have the goaltending. It’ll fall apart for them in the first round.
Yes….. Tampa will beat Toronto…. You heard it here first.
Not gonna lie…. Oil are in tough against LA… if LA injures one of the big 2 players…. The Oil might go out in game 7.
And LA is more than prepared to ‘take a knee’… dirty buggers.
Boston is something else eh…? Wow

I know one thing is that the regular season has come and gone.
Now it’s about blood, sweat, tears, heart and soul hockey.
Remove one of these key components and your golfing.
We can speculate as to what team will win all we want but the team that does learns to adapt and play out of its comfort zone.
Might be a few eye openers coming

Meh, could also throw a bottom feeder team in the mix and with puck luck win a couple rounds.
So basically anyone good enough to make it there has a fair chance at it. Some a little better chance than others.

It would NEVER happen, we would see WWE Wrestling refereeing to prevent that from ever happening like we saw in the Oilers - Ducks series a few years ago, remember the Duck's player laying on top of our goalie in the crease and the go ahead goal somehow still counted?
The only way the Oilers CAN win it all is if Bettman gives us his blessing.
The REAL dark horse in these playoffs is going to be officiating. It's no secret the NHL has the worst officiating in all of pro sports, that isn't even debatable. That has me a bit worried.
What a great time of year, GAME ON!!
LETS GO OILERS!!!!!

It really is saddening to think that any one person has the ability to depict the outcome of a sporting event, especially during playoffs where the better team(s) should advance then finally to win all the marbles. Makes me queasy for some reason and I am serious. Then further to imagine that officials can and do change a game through an agenda is even more damned disgusting. Guess the better team has to play that much harder to win. Real tough to think about.
Well anyhoo. Let's enjoy the heck out of the best game on the planet and cheer your fav team who made in into these 2023 post season games.
GO OIL!!!!!!! :fighting003 0:

That shouldn't surprise anyone, Tampa Bauy used that loophole a couple years ago now teams are catching on, put him on the LTIR and use his salary cap space for Jack Eichel until the playoffs start then bring him back, no cap during playoff if returning from the LTIR

Ahhh the game within the game!
Play within the rules provided, some get it and some don’t.

The Bruins played a heavy game today and I like their chances. I have to go with the hometown Oilers though. They’ve been great since acquiring Ekholm. Would love to see a Boston Edmonton Final. If the Oilers don’t win then we get to see Hall lift the cup.

Wouldn't THAT be fun!
That would rub a LOT of Oiler fans the wrong way
He didn't bother me like he did other fans though.
It's been over a decade since a Presidents Trophy winner won the cup, but none of those teams tore it up all season like the B's did. They are SCARRY good. But my guy instinct still says someone is gonna knock em off.
Certainly wont be the Oilers if they dont figure it out.. I said 7 games from the start so thats one of our 3 losses. Put it behind us and on to the next one..
