Default Perch

Can't beat a small chartreuse jig with a leech IMO.

Thanks guys.

How far usually cast if you are shore fishing for perch? How deep I need to put the bait using slip bobber?

Perch like the shallow water this time of year because it warms up quicker.
They can be in 1 to 6 feet of water. Most times you should be able to sight cast to them if you wade in to knee depth water. Closer to summer you might find them under docks and in front of and in weed beds in shallower water.

A piece of worm or maggots will catch you all sizes of perch. I like using a 2 to 4 cm. dacy minnow on a 1/32 oz. lead head jig, no rubbertail. The bigger perch will pick up the minnow and will swim with it for a few feet before stopping to swallow the minnow. Then set the hook. Spinners can be good too.

I use an ultralight spincast rod with 4 lb. line.

A perch colored "FISKAS" hook loaded with maggots gets them every time.
