Default Alberta/saskatchewan license for cold lake

Need clarification if you can fish with a Saskatchewan license on the Alberta side and vice versa. Seems a bit grey to me in the regulations

yes, either lisence for the entire lake. You only need one or the other to fish the entire lake.

You can fish on either side with either a saskatchewan or alberta licence. Just no barbed hooks for Albertans. Maybe see you there this weekend. One last time...

Just wanted to make a clarification as was explained by the fish cops....either license will do but regulations for either all fall under Alberta Regulations, even for Sask folks...so no barbs for anyone.

The fish cop I talked to said that people with a Sask licence can use barbed hooks on the sask side but people with alberta licences can not use barbed hooks anywhere. FYI When we asked the fish cop he seemed very confused about how it works so safest bet is just go barbless

Up until March 31, 2012 if you are fishing on the sask side under a sask license you can in fact use barbless. Starting on May 15, 2012 it will now be mandatory barbless on the sask side as well. Sask is looking at changing the laker limit to 1 fish over 75cm in 2013.

Default Sorry i was incorrect

The changes below are proposed for the 2012-13 angling season. ! Cold Lake: Mandatory use of barbless hooks. Mandatory use of
barbless hooks will result in the consistent application of this
regulatory requirement with the Alberta portion of this lake.

Cold Lake - 6A - angling limits are: 3 walleye, none may be less than 50 cm; 1 northern pike, not less than 63 cm; 10 whitefish, 15 perch, 1
lake trout, which may not be less than 65 cm, lake trout limit is 0 from September 15 through November 15. Either a Saskatchewan or Alberta angling licence is valid on Cold Lake.
Cold River - 6A - between Cold Lake and Pierce Lake. Lake trout limit 2, walleye limit 3. Closed to angling September 15 through November 15.
Right out of the book

Nothing said about barbed hooks in sask, But i was told by the saskatchewan DNR that you follow the alberta regs and there is no problem

I'm really having a hard time trying to stay out of this discussion. It was already discussed to great length a month or so ago and last season aswell.

i WILL BE USING BARBED HOOKS AND A GAFF ON THE SK SIDE.

if you use a sask license , you follow sask rules . if you have an alta license , you follow alta rules .

this is how it was explained to me by the game warden about three years ago
