Mule Deer Allocations
I had seen that the numbers are posted. Seems the rumors of the "cull" are true. Im using 305 as an example as its local and one of my fav zones. 600 licenses for draw and it comes with 2 tags..... 1200 antlerless in one season is a hard hit!

Surprised they are out already, I thopught they were coming with the antelope results. Not sure how I feel about these big culls. CWD is running rampant but the previous two large culls in 234 didn't seem to slow it down much 20 years ago. Problem is I don't think they have a better option to try.

Where ate you finding this, I am drawing a blank. Nothing in Undersubscribed and Current Season quotas tells me results will be available August 12th.

With the release of the quotas for mule deer and antelope, sure makes you wonder why The draw results aren’t released for another 2 weeks?!?
With the Covid relief additional tags for outfitters, there are a few zones that have a very high outfitter tag to resident tag ratio:
106 - 33% (10 compared to 30 tags)
112 - 27% (9 to 33 tags)
132 - 16% (11 to 67 tags)
134 - 47% (14 to 44 tags)
136 - 19% (10 to 52 tags)
138 - 32% (10 to 31 tags)
140 -66% (10 to 15 tags)
I could go on as I am sure that there are more out there with high ratios.
It is nice that the government actually has started posting this information. Certainly seems that there are some areas that need a review of outfitting allocation to resident tag allocation numbers.

236 is one. Its a shame they're doing this as the herds and buck quality was just starting to come back in a lot of zones, this one included.

Thanks for the link Elk.
On one hand there is some significant increases, especially with the two doe tags for some WMU's.
On the other hand there is many zones that had a slight decrease in buck tags and minimal increase in doe tags.
From what I see in the info, I still don't see why the draw results were postponed for a month and this wasn't figured out prior to the draw application period in June....??
I'm fortunate in that the zone I pulled my mule buck tag in had little change in tag #'s, I feel for the hunters that used their higher priority for a zone that may have doubled or tripled the buck tags this year. They got burned and wasted their priority points by this last minute change IMO.
This also threw a wrench into many mule deer hunters summer plans, maybe all hunters that applied in the mule deer draw should get their application fee back? Penalize the gov't for once, kind of like they're doing for hunters who don't fill out their harvest reports?
Pipe dream I know....Lol

I dont totally agree with you.
Take WMU 112 for example. 9 outfitter tags for this year. 7 of those are Archery only tags. WMU 112 is a general resident archery zone no draw required. How do you determine how many archery tags an outfitter should receive when there is an unlimited number of resident tags available?
Of the 9 outfitter tags in 112 2 are rifle only. Based on the 90/10 rule of resident tags to outfitter tags if the resident quota went to 33 tags then outfitter rifle only tags should be increased to 3.
Im sure this is the case amongst a number of WMU that have a general resident archery season.
For the zones that have a resident archery draw than your calculations are likely accurate.

haha... I did not get down that far but I certainly hope that is a typo and not the actual allocation of tags for that zone!

Good point! I believe of the zones that I posted earlier, only 106 and 112 had general archery tags.
With the Covid relief additional tags for outfitters, there are a few zones that have a very high outfitter tag to resident tag ratio:
132 - 16% (11 to 67 tags)

138 - 32% (10 to 31 tags)
140 -66% (10 to 15 tags)
And as Harv3589 noted, there are some ridiculous resident to outfitter tag allocations for zones 318-334 (rifle only).

ya that's what I meant to in regards to 236. In 2020 they gave out 120 and in 2021 they're giving out 249

I don’t believe the government is truthful in these numbers. Says one landowner tag purchased in 2020 in wmu 306. I personally know of 5. Same thing with the harvest data just released. 0 bull elk harvested in wmu 300!? Again I know of several. These are draw tags as well. Supposedly mandatory reporting. If these are wrong (most certainly are) how can we have faith in any of the other numbers? We can’t …….

What I found surprising was a number of WMU's listed as general season. I didn't think there was any general tags for mule deer in the province

Blows my mind. Last year I pulled my antlerd mule tag for 236. I passed on every deer and hung a 7 priority on the tree. I wasn't going to shoot anything smaller then what janders took while with me in 2017. Story is here on the forum scored 184 5/8 I believe or close to.
Last year an average was 140 to 160 and some good pockets of bigger boys.

If every hunter drawn for does shoots two or even one, we can kiss our Mule deer herds goodbye. Its a .....ing disgrace.
I should get my Buck tag this year, its going to be a total gong show.
