I think it's the other way around. If the media reported ALL the facts, and didn't pick and choose what they report, they probably wouldn't be in this situation.

And why do you think this?

What about the muzzling of scientists? Surely, you can't manage to blame that on the media too.

You do know that freedom of the press is an international benchmark of democracy and civilian freedom?

If there is a change in government, I suppose you'd be equally supportive of the NDP denying information to the public?

I think that when you have a hostile bureaucracy you have a very real threat to democracy. To many of the entrenched bureaucrats, the Conservatives (and conservatives in general) are seen as a threat to their livelihood (living off taxpayer money, whether their services are required or not), while Liberal gov't's are seen as saviours of their jobs and spending.

I don't necessarily agree with "muzzling" the bureaucrats, when they have a legitimate concern to be put out to the public...but when they use their positions to try and harm a sitting government and stifle democracy, I can see the wisdom in putting a filter between them and the public.

I am reading a thread from about 1 1/2 years ago about Justine and
