Generally, if you're there to do them a service, people are happy to see you. Think we actually had a gun sale scammer from Assumption in the classified section at one time. That's how I remembered the place.

Have fun... 100km west of High Level, about 15km north of HWY 58. Oh, by the way, its not Assumption, its Chateh !! trust me on this I have been corrected a few times

Its maybe not as bad as say 15-20 years ago, I have stories from working there on GOVT projects (new RCMP and others). Still a place I would be out of by dark. You would not believe how fortified the RCMP building is there.

Best place to stay is Rainbow Lake at the Noralta Inn West facility. Its an open camp setup like a hotel with GREAT FOOD !!!


Rainbow Lake is about 45-50km west of the Assumption (Chateh) turnoff.
