Default 2011 6.7 Powerstroke - NEEDED

I thought I'd ask on here if anyone might have a contact in the new engine department.

2011 F-550 has been down now for over 2 weeks and the brand new drop in engine that was supposed to arrive today or Monday has now apparently been pushed 2 more weeks at least.

The shop working on the truck has contacted numerous AB dealers with the same results.

If anyone here has an idea, I'd really love to hear it because it's really hard to be without one of your main work trucks for such a long time not to mention the giant expense of this engine.

I am only really interested in a brand new complete drop in engine not a used one or a long block.

Thanks.

Eric

My good friends 2011, F350 diesel cratered at 200,000 km's going 110 on cruise down the highway. Went from running to dead in seconds with no warning lights or things that make you go hmmm in the weeks prior. No coolant or oil loss, block was intact. Dealer said it seized up which is weird as he said there was not one hint what was about to happen, no noise as it did.

Company truck, meets all maintenance schedules at the dealer. He went used( about half of new when all said and done) as the cost of new was incredible.

OP, Hope they can track down one for you asap.

2011 F550 with less than 150,000 km.
Glow plug end dropped off and played ping pong inside.
Impeccable maintenance and killed it with no warning as well.
Apparently was an issue in 2011 build.
Over $20,000 and a month down time has me feeling sire about Ford at the moment for sure.

Even when I worked at Ford on the 6.7s we would only receive a complete drop in for the current model year. Anything after that it was a complete long block minus turbo, HP pump, exh manifolds, intake, etc. You might be waiting awhile for a complete drop in, they do not just have them stocked in a warehouse. A dealership will not stock one so you are going to get the same answer everywhere. You can ask them if they have entered it as an 'emergency order' ? It does make a difference.

Yeah, that sounds like the early 2011 run issues they had. Glowplug tips dropping and grenading the engine. They also frequently had turbo issues. The reality is your only options really are wait for the shop to get a new engine, or try to track down a used one and slap that in. Both are going to run you $10k+.

The 6.7L is a great engine and aside from those early production models, they don't really have any major common issues. That said, I do often wonder why fleets even continued to buy Ford diesels after the 6.0L and 6.4L fiascos. I've seen more 6.4L trucks for sale with "needs new engine/engine running rough/recent new engine/engine rebuilt" than I've seen of all other modern diesels combined. Friend's uncle had a nice 6.4L with barely over 100k on it, bone stock, fuel pump random went and sent shrapnel through the injectors and totally FUBAR'd the engine. $15k bill, just out of warranty. I bet he paid nearly $70k for the truck brand new.

Sounds like you want new engine. If used is even an option there's www.car-part.com. Millions of parts on there and thousands locally in province. That engine I'm not sure of though

Might be faster and easier to do a "de-stroke" kit. I bet about the same or less cost as well overall. Just a thought.

Crank broke between #1 and 2 on a unmodified engine. Truck had a history of throwing random turbo overboost/overspeed codes when under load that no one could properly address. After considering all my options I decided to put a brand new crate d'max in the truck and run the truck until the doors fall off. At 430K I'm half way my goal.

Default the 6.7

We have a 2011 F550 with around 6511hrs on it. Regular maintenance schedule. The truck is also on engine 3 right now.

The best motor ford had quit getting put in in 2002 I think was the last of the 7.3

Third motor in under 7000 hours. Unbelievable. My 6.7 cummins has over 7500 hours on it going strong.

Why even bother with the ford?? I mean 3 engines? ?

The 350 seem indestructible the 550 have a slightly mod engine they interchange but 550 has less hp and different turbo. Had 2 550 grenade 1 week apart at 158,000 Kim and the second at 167,000 k. Our 350s have 300,000 with no problems

Sounds like a ton of idle hours. Deleting was the best thing you could have done for that truck, otherwise you'd likely be having DPF issues up the wazoo.

Just the way the tenders work I guess. We have something like 600 units of all makes and models. I can tell you my 2000 dodge will probably be the "newest" vehicle I own. Everything is junk these days. We have a cummins for rear engines on 2 brand new units, 1000hrs run time. After 3hrs of running they "make" enough oil to raise the levels 1/4" on the dipstick!! Cummins wont do anything about em either.

Default part number

This is the part number you need. DC3Z-6007-ARM. With turbo/intake so they are out there. My old shop just did two of these in a row.
