Default Primer question

Due to the difficulty of trying to source LR primers, I’m down to approx 500 of these, and these are the ones that I use the most of. However, I do have about 3000 LRM primers. I’ve been using CCI LR and Winchester LRM. Both are non-match grade. I’ll continue to use my LR’s in my loads that I have developed so far. And substitute LRM in the new loads that I’m developing.

So, what differences can I expect to see?

You may see higher pressures, and higher velocities in some loads, and in smaller capacity cases, you might lose some accuracy. With some powders, and in cold weather, accuracy could actually improve. I would drop the powder charge slightly, when switching to magnum primers, and check velocities.

As EH11 mentioned, just scale back about a grain to start and see what happens. I regularly use LRM primers with no ill effects in both my huntiing rifles and match riflles.
