Default Fish Porn

I was looking for photos of large dugout trout and i came across this guys flickr account. It sounds like hes a biologist and is really into photography. These are hands down some of the most beautiful photos of fish i have ever seen. There are hundreds and it appears many photos were taken in canada. I have to warn you though he is a photographer and I ran into two female partially nude photos in the older direction (tab at the top). If you go in the newer direction you will see many awesome photos. If you go in the older directions his fish photos get more sparse but if you get past the nudes there a many more awesome fishing and diving photos.

Default I'm that guy

Hi folks
So i'm that fisheries biologist who has the Flickr site you guys are discussing. Just to clarify a few points:
1) I am a fisheries biologist and several of the images are of large fish that were caught by rod or net during work and had to killed for our Total Metals testing progrm on fish health. An example of that are the large Pike.
2) When angling on my own, I indeed practice catch-and-release but also keep some for eating
3) Winter netting programs required we obtain baseline data on Inconnu. A certain number of fish are killed for age/growth determination based on otolith removal. Genetic samples are archived and internal organs are examined for general health. No meat is wasted and is distributed among community members. Sorry if such slaughter photos offend some of you.
4) I hope you guys enjoy the underwater photos.

Hey Chum,

Keep up the good work. I believe you were the guy swimming in Baker Creek when I was fishing there after work. That was a while ago... Have not been up there in two years. Pics are great, keep up the good work. Underwater shots are incredible!

Levy Thanks for the Link.

Chumsalmon09 those are awesome pictures, makes me miss the North and Far North. I swear I travelled over some of those lake on the winter roads, but if not the country is great, need to make an adventure again to those parts someday.

Yes, that was me. Grayling numbers are down from a few years ago but high water had a lot Pike and Suckers running the creek. Check out my recent salmon and Dolly shots at the start of my Flickr photostream.

That was when I still lived at home. I would do it again but my wife would not stand for it.

Most underwater shots were in the Yellowknife area but some were in the Sub-Arctic 200 miles North of the town and some of the Lake trout underwater shots were taken on Great Bear Lake. Check out the record char shot we got on the Tree River.

Great stuff Chum!!! I especially love the drawings. I am looking forward to seeing more photos. Do you ever sell prints? I recently moved into a new apartment and would love to get some nice photos for the walls.

I have a few very high quality Giclee prints of Lake trout originals. Email me on my flickr email. I can send you photos of the prints to show the size. They are quite big, on 20 inchx 30 inch paper (aaprox). Price for signed print: $90.

Thumbs up

I feel the photos in the 'newer' side are particularly beautiful. I never thought of pike as friendly but they almost seem that way to me now that I've seen you right up close to them and actually touching one. Amazing.

Gorgeous photos. Quick question about Giclee reproductions; do you scan your original illustrations or take photographs of them?

The drawings you see on the Flickr site were photographed and then layout with text was done in Photoshop. Giclee prints undergo a high quality scan using an enormous flatbed scanner. No camera generated TIFF file can match it.

I went through all of Chum's photo's today. Amazing. I want prints of your illustrations. I want at least one wall of my fishing den covered in your prints. Your photo's have also convinced me I HAVE to go fishing the NWT. Tree River, Great Bear Lake, are now both on my bucket list.

Hi WorldClass

Sadly, i have very few prints. The ones i do have were tests done by a printer and your choice is limited to Lake trout. I may do more prints in the near future. Anyway, I may have 2 or 3 for sale, especially if the other guy from our thread ends up not getting the one I had in mind for him.
