Default Zama bison herd.

Can anyone tell me where to get information on how the Zama bison herd is doing and how the decision on when they will be opening it up to hunting again is made. I have been driving through the area and the herd looks to be doing well.

I don’t think the closure had much to do with herd health. But that may just be rumor.

It would be interesting to hear what F&W had to say on the issue.
I will write up an email and see what they have to say.
This was a great hunting opportunity for Alberta residents, I wish I would have been lucky enough to be drawn.

Just skimmed over they first paragraph but it looks like the target for the heard is 400-600 animals.

Google alberta bison survey. I'm sure there is more info available. This was the first link that came up

Default Bison heard

If you look in the Alberta Relm site there is some information. Target is between 400-600. The heard is around 368 I think I read. There has also been Bison seen past Rainbow Lake on the way down to the lake.

This. That’s what I have been told last year when I inquire. Not sure on the exact current number, but the target was 600 I remember.
