Default CFB Suffield Elk Hunt?

This will be my first time out to CFB Suffield for the elk hunt. One of the requirements is; "Blaze hunter orange or equivalent visible clothing must be worn at all times when outside of vehicle while on the range"

What have others worn besides blaze orange?

I have a blaze orange jacket but my helper does not. We do not want to spend the money if we have something that would work. What about high visibility yellow construction jacket? red surveyors vest?

Default Spring for it

Buy a blaze orange cover, maybe $40, the hunt will cost a lot more than that.

It has gotten better over the years but there is still a lot of hunters in a confined area, being clearly seen is not a detriment.

If you get the tag next year the price per hunt will be in half.

I can be any Blaze orange. I bought a vest at Canadian Tire for $15 and one guy that was with us had a blaze orange toque that I think he paid $3 at a dollar store.

I've seen guys buy an XXL Red t-shirt to throw over their jackets at Suffield and Wainwright. Me, I just wear a blaze orange hoodie.

All we wore last year was a blaze orange vest no hassle. Don’t forget you need an emergency blanket, working GPS a means to get your meat of the area and enough food for 24hrs.

Do you know if they accept a phone with a GPS app

What constitutes a means, would a backpack suffice

You need a standalone GPS, they do not except phone apps.

Yes, a large pack is acceptable as a meat hauler.
