Can anyone tell me what type of java applications I need to enter live chat?

There is a free download at www.java.com You likely need to download java itself. It's not included with all browsers. If not you may need to upgrade. All the info is there anyhow.

you probably need to install a Java Runtime Environment, just google java and you should see it right away
