couple quick tips

first is a mod I made to my fishing bells, had a few instances of them getting twisted in the line or flying off into the wild blue yonder, I undid the little claws, took half the clip off and bent the other one like this. I just hook it on the tip of the rod, with a good bite it either falls off or you can just flick the rodtip when you set the hook and it goes straight down.

second tip is to get out there and do some exploring in your favourite river, now that they are slow and low, you can pick up structure like this, its how I found my favourite fishing hole and a few others as well last fall. especially if your memory is as bad as mine, pictures will help you remember whats under there next high water season. same as driving around the dams, you can spot a lot of weed beds and holes to try out when its frozen over this winter. (no rush for that please)

I use the tip up bells, they "ring" much easier than the cow bells, and you can just hang them on your line above one of the eyes. You can also attach them to the end of the rod if you like and add a small light stick for night fishing.

props WC, great time for exploration on our rivers. a friend and I have covered 15-20 k of the red deer a ways above sundre. found some great water, a pb brown in AB for myself and a pb bull for my friend. lots of spots we would not normally find at higher water levels.

did some more scouting yesterday, from the cliffs opposite my favourite hole and learned a whole lot more about that section of the river, also put on some miles and found a bunch more awesome looking spots to fish as well. River looks to be deep most of the way across,viewing from the far shore side, but you can see from the hilltop shot just whats down there. Deep channel along shore opposite, and the rock pile you can see near top is where I hit most of my walleyes. Now I know why most of the fish come from close to shore, they follow the channel up the river, even during runoff when this area is 6 or 7 feet deeper.

sure pays to explore at low clean water. Only problem is that now I have even more places to try, and only 365 days in the year!!!!
