Default Cleanning a bear in another place

Is it legal to transport the tagged bear to a place close to Edmonton and clean it in the public land? If so, please advise me the closet public land from Edmonton west or north.

The guy doesn't know how to skin a bear and he need helpers from Edmonton to drive to the spot. Better to drive half way to meet the bear in the middle.

If it is tagged and legal then yes go ahead. If you are trying to save the hide in these warm conditions you want it off ASAP or it can start to slip. If that happens the trophy is worthless and ugly.

Why would someone shoot one when they don't know what to do with it? Seems to me he should have waited until someone in the know was with him and then learned something. JMHO

A huge part of hunting is what happens after the shot, arguably that's more important than what occurs prior....best to be prepared to deal with your harvest before the harvest takes place. In the case of a bear, the law states you cannot waste the hide....leaving it on in heat for several hours is not conducive to that. I think it's best to be prepared to deal with it on the spot.

Thanks guys for the advise. The guy tagged his first bear on the weekend and I drove 1.5 hours from another WMU to help him. Donated the best hunting time to him.

You are the man. Much better than complaining about what he should have done. You probably helped set him on the path to becoming a better hunter, and that's what we need rather than a bunch of guys criticizing.
