I Let Him Walk
A beauty bear that came in at the end of the evening. Maybe next time I see him. Maybe.......

I'm confused...why did you let a noice bear like that walk? I'm just under the assumption the point of all the work baiting was to harvest a bear just like that. He's a dandy bruin. Hide looked real noice too.
Also, I think he understands English. His feelings seemed hurt by the "get outta here" lol.
Really great footage. Thanks for sharing. Maybe one day I'll find a bear like that

Yup I agree that it is a lot of work and time in the baits, but for myself, I've been very fortunate and have harvested two bears of this caliber in the last 3 years. My hunting partner hasn't quite had the same luck so we are trying to get him one of this size. Unfortunately he was at one of our other sites this night and I was here. The site he was on also has a bear of this size on it as well. Right place, right time I guess. I also enjoy seeing and filming them as much as shooting them, just a lot less work. LOL Maybe, if I see him again it might happen. My oldest daughter is also very interested in possibly harvesting this bruin. Maybe the next post will be her holding that giant mellon up. Next 7 days will tell.

I can see your point about not harvesting that bear. Pity your buddy wasn't at that site so he had the opputunity to take that big bruin. when you think about it, how many bear rugs or mounts do you need, esp. considering the space they take up, not to mention the work and cost involved? It would be different if you were after meat, but I'm guessing that wasn't a priority.
I suppose someone might ask why you sat at a site to begin with, if your just going to let them walk, but your buddy might have needed help with his hunt, and you got a great little video out of it. Thanks for sharing.
P.S. If you could just PM the gps co-ordinates of that site to me that would be OK. lol

Good call for sharing the experience with others droptine894.
After all, how many rugs can one person need? You will most likely have more fun watching someone else kill their first, then killing one yourself every year.

There are a few guys out there that put a lot of work into hunting big bears, bucks, bulls or whatever they like to hunt then let them walk instead of shooting them. They just like to hunt and be out there doing it but don`t find it necessary to always kill stuff. Far as I`m concerned the video makes as good a trophy as the bear without the mess, the gutting, skinning and the taxidermy bill.

Good for you for not shooting this guy! He is a beauty-bear for sure and will hopefully contribute to the genopool of local bears. Thanks for the video too! Beautiful animal indeed!
