Anyone have the Hummingbird 565, how does it perform?

I set one up on the boat today but I didn't like the idea of drilling holes through the boat to attach the transducer bracket so instead I decided to glue it on with Lepage's PL 400 calking. That stuff gets as hard as a rock and will stick to anything, also waterproof. I haven't been to the water yet to fine tune it but according to the directions that bracket should be movable up and down. (of course I never read directions unless I absolutely have too ) I think they said 14 degrees was the perfect angle. After gluing it on the boat I will only be able to adjust the transducer on the notched pivot ring, I hope thats enough.
Anyone else take this route with their's?
Thx!

I hv a 798 Humminbird and attached the ducer direct to the boat,
Crestliner 17.5 Fish Hawk. Siliconed it also and hv no leaks.
Easy job to do and have one adjustment, done,
tracks and reads at top speed, over 33mph.
