Default Coyote Smell (Green Belly)

Anyway to control the Smell? Usally do the yotes ASAP but these were given to me and were not handled well "Hanging by back feet" is there anything to spray to mask the smell or get rid of it?

I can't help you with the smell but I can offer you a tip that Coy Coyote passed on to me about treating the green belly on muskrat pelts. Put hydrogen peroxide on a cloth and rub the effected area with it. It'll stop the bacteria growth and takes the green out of the leather. I do it after I've fleshed the pelt and while it's still on the fleshing beam.

havnt skinned many green dogs, but quite a few lynx with green belly, they seem to get it very easy because they are so insulated and yes that smell is somthin else!
the worst part is the aftermath if you inhale to much of it.......

its very good and has many uses.

saved the day, this morning on some stinky yotes.

Default Green Belly

I use lots of Vicks Vaporub or Tiger Balm to deal with green belly. Definitely not a pleasant experience.

Thanks alot Brag and to everyone else that responded...I do my processing in my farm shop that we park our vehicles in so even if i can block the smell by vicks or something else the Whole shop gets stunk out.

When someone else walks in even hours later its still overpowering and even gets into the vehicles interiors

Two words.

Hutter rites.

Drop them off dead and unskinned, pick them up skinned washed stretched and dried for shipping. 10-12 bux each.

The boy's up in my area seem to work for a little more than that Red...the one's i talked to are either in the 20$ range or want 50/50 split.

For that much I will have to live with the stench or quit Killing them, but its way to much fun!!

sounds like you diffidently need some XO. its not a cover up/perfume. its an eliminator. they use it on crime scenes, old folks homes, etc. nothing better when your processing stinky dead animals.

get the concentrate, then mix your own.

Lick the green belly and get that taste in your taste buds. Then you will forget all about the smell.

I used to skin green bellies outside with me on the upwind side.

Why not skin them outdoors, leave the carcass out there and flesh the pelt in the shop?

I have used one of the masks with cartridges when handling smelly stuff. Worked for me.

Uh oh. Lol. Anyone else noticing a lot of fleas with the warm weather. Caught 16 yotes last year no fleas. Minus 20-30 though. Caught a few this year that were covered

You bunch of sissies!!! LOL

Paul, thanks for the idea. I think I'll order the concentrate in 50 gallon barrels! I'd be leary of spraying it direct on the coyote, no idea what the stuff might do in the tanning process. What's it made of? I might be tempted to spray a little around before last receiving dates tho!

not sure what its made from. has a slight citrusy smell. i just mist the room(couple of squirts). not directly on the critter. couldn't imagine, not having any.

thought it might work as cover scent last year while wolf trapping. but it didn't work for that.

Haha mine too! I just put a pair of coveralls on and go to work. She keeps talking about learning how to skin but disappears awful quick when a green belly comes around.

Default germ gel

Anyone know the science behind using alcohol-based hand sanitizer on green belly? Would it be problematic for the tanning process?
