Best bridge fishing ever
At the west end of Lesser Slave Lake there is a long wide cove, Across this cove are two bridges, One of which is no long used, there are no warninig signs that i could see. This is a different kind of fishing, from the bridge rail to the water about 30 feet. This is easy fishing for anyone 3years old to 90 years, wheel chair no problem. If you cant cast, but can press a button you are good to go, jig with minnow, worm, etc.Take your chair, cooler, tackle box. The walleye has to hand over handed out of the water. This is a free for all ,children laughing, squealing, dogs barking, fishing flapping ,people comeing and going, lots of room for everyone. If trailering in the area this is a must stop, lots of room to swing that big rig in.Really a fun spot.

Back in the 70's when I was first able to drive but didn't have a boat, I used to drive there and fish off the bridge. Caught a 6 lb Walleye there one day

The locals get pretty creative there by using a bicycle rim and an old net tied to a long rope to haul up their catch.

I have fished from the Bridge near Port Renfrew when the Coho are returning.
You can spot the schools heading up the river and cast to the ones at the back of the school.
either the ones the spoon lands in front of get hit you have a fish, but then again they may scatter and the ones that passed will turn back to sea and you have a second chance of getting a strike.
This is Not Jiging or Flossing the fish will strike the lure out of fear or aggression.
Tight Lines,
Rob

I fished off that bridge off Grouard Channel of the westend of slave about 20 years ago, before my father had purchased our first boat. It was also before they closed that area till June 15 and the possession limit was 5 . It was a late thaw and the water was high, we caught so many walleye, it wasn't uncommon to have 3 fish on at a time on one pickerel rig. Some of the best fishing of my life
