Found Another Good Grande Prairie Wild Meat Cutter
Have used Wapiti Meats from Grovedale for years. They do excellent work and provide great service, fast cuts and no waiting to get your meat into the cooler. The only issue is they are 40 minutes south of GP.
Decided to try Shawn's Custom Meats this year. Brand new shop in North GP, used to be in Sexsmith. Great guy, good service. No waiting to get meat in and he even came over and intook meat long past closing time.
A little disorganised, needs a full time front end person to help with intake, handing out cut meat etc. All in however will use them again. Does nice cut and wrap for 84 cents a pound, a lot cheaper than most. You get your own meat back for sure, just like Wapiti and unlike H and M. Skinning of carcass costs $25 but strongly prefers carcass not be frozen, and i fyou ever tried skinning a frozen moose you will know why!.
Only tip is tell him you want as many roasts and steaks as possible. He leans to making only the top cuts into roasts and steaks and the rest into Burger. I prefer as much full size meat as I can get, I can always grind left overs latter.
Doubt prices will stay this low as he gets busier but for now it is great work at a heck of a good price.
