Smile Ice Out Before the Long Weekend at Wab

One of my buddies drove by Wabamun lake today and they confirmed that the ice has finally and fully cleared off of Wab. This should mean that all of the others lakes in the area should be ice free now.

Default Wab ice

Drive by the lake on both sides for work. Confirmed the ice is off, even saw a boat out there today.
Best as I can tell Isle is clear as well. Didn't go by the Gainford end, so not sure about that end.

Default Isle winter kill

Been down to the beach a few times and haven't seen any floaters yet. I know this winter it must have killed early because every time i was out the action was slow
Bro in law had the camera out in the late season and we didn't see much, but they were there. Didn't see anything laying on the bottom, so that could be encouraging. This was around the Camp.
Hopefully it retained some of the population, it's always nice to get out after work and play.

Yeah... I'm sure hoping that lake didn't winterkill. The walleye in that lake seem to be much bigger than the walleye in any of the other surrounding lakes. Last summer, I finnally figured out what technique to use at that lake to catch alot of walleye.

These are some Pics of average sized Isle lake walleye that I caught.

They've said that every year for about the past 7 or 8 years. While I'm sure a few fish die every winter, its never as bad as most people make it out to be.
