It is fall of 2011 according to their website.

http://www.cabelas.ca/news_and_information/?newsid=77

There have been other threads on this.

I don't expect to save any money but more competition & selection cannot be anything but good.

I was on site yesterday....the outside structure work is still ongoing. Wrapped in Tyvek right now.

Guesstimate? September 2011.

I saw the building today as well....and with the progress they have made allready. I find it hard to beleive it won't be ready until the fall. I manage a large "box" store and i know when we open a new store, once the exterior is done. the inside only take 1-2 months. I am hoping that they will be open for the spring.

The pre-open sale (invite only) is on 1 August...the store grand opening sale for all is...I think...the next day. I have a pal that will be working there so will confirm and get back to you.

Should be crazy...whenever it is

How do you get invited to the pre-sale? Is it for employees or outfitters?

My son works there so I can shop on Aug. 1st. for 1 hour, son has to sign us in at a certain time.
There's a media day, and also one for Cabela's mail order past local customers (my wife got her invitation today in the mail).
Regular opening for general public will be 4th.

So it looks like Cabala's caters only to Special Groups.

Not good Cabala's.

Wait until the competition hears about this.

Not true.
They are showing appreciation to customers who have supported them prior to their shop opening. That is a good thing. The media get their show so they can help sell the store to the public who are unaware. It is generally easier for such an opening to seperate the made rush of the general public and the media.

Additionally the customers who were invited ahead of the other groups will also help with the training of staff. They will use this controlled sale help weed out any problems that havent already been discovered.

I read Mr. Pesky 672's posting.

Pre opening sale?

Only for the invited?

Not good marketing.

The unwashed are not allowed?

Not good marketing.

Signed greylynx the unwashed who does not want to create any more problems.

LOL...don't take it personally Lynx...most new stores, restaurants, etc have these "soft" openings to identify any issues, problems, etc before the really important customers show up. Think of these early few as guinea pigs...lol Think of it as a dress rehearsal.

Cabela's was planning on having a "friends and family" night....then they cut it to only family and by the sounds of it some of the employees were really disappointed.

Personally I would call it customer appreciation. Giving your loyal customers a sneak peak... This is done by many big companies when a new location is opened. BPS did the same thing two years ago when they opened.
You still get to come in when the doors OFFICALLY OPEN on the 4th.

Anyone who is at there the 6th & 7th stop by and say hi to me. I will be there with Pure Fishing.

Not sure why this would be a problem. If you supported Cabelas over the years via their mail order service and used a Cabelas membership card when you shop stateside they are showing their appreciation for you supporting their business.

Much like getting invites to car dealerships for advance viewing if you have bought a number of vehicles from them or early viewing on new crusies if you use the same cruise line.

Yes I got an early invite and your welcome to come with me as my Dad or my son depending on who looks older when we meet at the door.
