Mountain Camping for Bachelor Party HELP!
Good Day Everyone! I am in need of help.
As a bit of backstory, I have been given the pleasure of being the best man and my friends wedding which also means that I am to plan the bachelor party in late August. He has given some guidelines that he would like his party to be a camping trip and it must be in Alberta (We are all based out of Calgary). The problem lies in that I am in no way an outdoors-man, this is why I have come to you guys.
What I am looking for posting on this forum is some suggestions of locations that are suitable of such a situation. I think the type of local we are looking for is a mountainous area preferably rather secluded. We are not afraid of being off of the beaten path, but thinking logically we will have to carry quite a bit of stuff to the site. (Tents, sleeping bags, alcohol) There will be approximately 8 people.
As a disclaimer, we are not rowdy people I do no believe that things will get out of control so proximity to others shouldn't be a problem.

Perhaps a call to the Anchor D.
Get them to take your group into one of their camps on horseback-they haul all the gear.

Given that you're admittedly "not an outdoorsman" I wouldn't look for something that is "hike in" or "too far off the beaten path".
IF what you say is true, "not rowdy" people, and there are only 8 of you, I would just look for any of the "double" campsites in any regular campground. Kananaskis, Crowsnest Pass, etc. All within a 2 hour drive and will have all the amenities you will need for campers who aren't really "campers". Ie; showers, toilets, firewood delivered to your site, firepits and the all important pay-phone for those medical emergencies, yet still surrounded by forest and mountains.

Check out the 'Trailpeak' website. It has information on all the trails. Should be able to find one that would work for your group.

Just a thought....... you could hire me and a buddy to do all your cooking range style c/w cast iron. We will even attempt to be a "cantankerous old chuck wagon cooks" just to spice up the storey for your retelling the tale in years to come.

If it's within the budget, it would make an awesome trip.
If not, I'd suggest a drive to K-country campground. As has been stated, inexperience + alcohol + remote site = trouble. And not the good kind.
If you're not used to packing gear, you really won't get far or enjoy the experience.

Spontaneous paintball
Flyfishing
Kayaking
Nursing the hangovers in a lawn chair glassine for Rams and Griz

Not really campground info but some people post things about the trails and the places the trails lead to. Great info on all the trails around north america.

Go to EmTee Town north of rocky mtn. house. Old west style of bachelor party.
Can camp or rent a room by the saloon.

Did a similar bachelor party at porcupine group camp in kananaskis. Worked out really good.
45 mins from Calgary. Casino close by. They arranged a bus for us. Brewsters golf 20 mins away and cheap. Fishing nearby.
We brought a keg, dud a bug BBQ, bocce, beer darts, beer lo.
Very cheap, and no public around.

Two years ago when camping at Zeiner at Pigeon lake there was a bachelorette party
20 some 20 something's stumbling around all weekend
It was awesome
Still haven't told the wife about that one.
They made out ok
I'm sure these guys will make out just fine

My friend, what you are looking for is a 'group campsite'.
Rent it for a few hundred bucks, everyone drives up, there's picnic tables, facilities, etc. Yet still segregated from the actual campground.
Tons and ton of them, in fact most campgrounds have at least 1.
Years ago we used to do a yearly campground trip, we went to a place called "Elk Flats" in Kanaskis. Looks it up for sure. I haven't been there in years but it would be absolutely perfect for what you're describing. Even has a covered area with a fire stove in it if it rains.

And we drink with the Bears. Was at Party. Black Bear wanted to party with us. We laid him out a few stiff drinks. He lapped it up. Was drunk a hr later. We tied him upright to a tree. Took pictures with him. Playing cards, etc. Untied him. Took him a while to get going. But he did.

Not sure what kinda stuff "real men" do...
(Of course, all in jest. I agree there's many people who should probably not random camp... but I'm not sure the city/country split is an accurate identifier at all. In fact I've often found exactly the opposite is true.)
