Default Sonar or Flasher for Ice Season

Just saw this at Canadian Tire in Windermere this morning. Anyone looking for a good sonar unit will like this one. Same one I have and I cant believe I ever fished without it!
It comes in a little carry case with both open water and ice-ducers, battery and small tackle boxes!

I tried flashers and sonars (LCDs). My favorite hands down:

I personally like a flasher better then a sonar but i converted a small gps/sonar unit this season so i can save weigh points and map out areas i will be fishing a bunch this winter.

I will be using both units this winter if we get enough ice here in southern Alberta to get out and punch some holes.

I use the Elite 4 Ice Machine, I absolutely love it, Many more featured than a standard flasher as well I use it on the boat in the openwater seasons, I love the Maps, Navigation and tracking features mine has. I ended up getting mine on sale for over 50% off at cabelas, I heard they have a Fl22 Vexilar unit in the bargain cave right now, that's also a great unit !

If you have another source for GPS - then this unit would be great. (I don't think this unit is GPS capable).

I think having a unit that is GPS capable (with a chartplotter) is a HUGE feature both in open water and on the ice. Find that drop off or magical spot once ..... mark it and return right to the same spot +/- a meter or two and game on.
