Default Porch Pirates

See they're appreciating the Christmas season again. It's become very common for couriers including Canada Post to just leave packages outside your front door, maybe with a pic to your phone to show delivery. Seems a very lazy approach to me. We were in Windermere when my son got a phone message showing a parcel on his porch in Red Deer, luckily he got a neighbor to grab it. So now, whose responsible if it gets stolen, or is this just another crime we are supposed to get used to. ?

I order lots of stuff and someone is always home. I recycle my boxes with stuff headed to the dump or dog crap. It always gone. 3 boxes stacked up for high visibility. I have cameras so soon as someone steps on property i get a notification.

I have this box for them to leave packages in. Canada post understands how to use it but Amazon does not most of the time. It is good to get the package out of view.

Been thinking of doing the same thing, chain it to something and leave a lock inside. Not sure some of the couriers will figure it out. I leave instructions to put package by side door, its always left on the front sidewalk.

That's a nice box. I'd take the package out and make off with the box.

If you knew what language the "new Canadian" who delivers was, you could write a sign in their language and put it by the box. Maybe that would work.

Default Many of the Amazon Drivers

do not understand English so instructions are futile. A lady my daughter knows lost an expensive stroller because they delivered it to the wrong address and took a picture to prove delivery. The slug living where it was delivered denied receiving the pkg so stole it.

The box is screwed to the step, not my first day in the hood. Even my garbage cans are chained up.

I would not order a rifle delivered to my door. If I did I would have to be home the day it was delivered. The box isn’t perfect but it helps.

I order things to my fiancés work. Then it’s always received by someone and not just sitting outside.

Always have stuff delivered to work, where I am. Never left on the front porch.

A friend has the delivery guy put them at the back door out of site if no one will be home. So far it has worked.

There are so many door cam vids out there of a delivery truck doing their drop, then driving away with only seconds in between before a trailing vehicle pulls up and some scum bag runs up and takes the package.

I am going to begin putting my unwanted stuff and dog crap in the empty courier boxes and leaving them out for the porch pirates.

I'd love to put on some sort of exploding device spraying the thief with dog poo the minute he opens up the box .... but of course ..... then I'd be the "criminal" and the thief would become the victim ..... lol

It sounds like some kind of justice, but it's just littering with an extra step involved.
When the low lives discover the box is garbage, I guarantee they aren't going to dispose of it properly.

I believe it has been discussed before. All outside storage boxes only work if delivery person takes extra second to put it into the box. BTW, there are nice ones out there - once the package is placed and the lid is closed the bottom drops and the package is out of sight. But those porch boxes are expensive!!!

Read a story not too long ago.

This guy bought himself a brand new TV. Put his old broken down TV inside the new box, and put it on his deck.

Guess what? Some dumbazz pirate stole it.

Easy disposal...hehe...
