I have the cousin in a vx6 2x12 firedot and it is brilliant to get on target in fluid situations... I have not followed through on the CDS , but I will once a get the load developed to check out its' claim to fame

I have a Vx-r patrol 1-4 and a vx-6 3-18x50 with the B&C.
I really like both, clarity, glass etc. really like the firedot - really grabs the eye. I wouldn't hesitate, I find it much quicker to see exactly where your crosshairs are with a dark target. Only downside is that vx-6 I have is that it is 24 oz...
Really nice on my 7mm Rem mag though!

Good to go
I have three 3x9 and one 4x12, all on hunting rifles from 284 to 270WSM. Have used them for several years with no issues. Not as good of glass for my eyes as a VX 6, but not the money either. I find the red dot to be excellent when it comes to fast target acquisition.

Great things to hear.
Trying to figure if the 3-9x40 vxr firedot with CDS or same scope in the 4-12x40 would be best suited for the 338wm xbolt with 26" barrel.
If none of u mind. Woukd over to see some of your rigs with this scope. At first I was un easy with a 30mm tube.

I really like The VXR-3's. I have a 2-7 Firedot on a Sako 9.3x62 and a 3-9 Firedot on a Kleinguenther K-16 7mm Rem. Each perform well in their respective chamberings. Originally I didn't think I would like the firedot idea, but I sure do now. Target acquisition is faster for sure and the optics are plenty good enough for me.
At low light, make sure the dot illumination is set low. At high brightness the illumination of the dot will obscure the target.

I have a 4-12x40 on an R-1 with Leupold QRW low rings. The 3x9 are on BLR 325WSM, 284 and Model 88 308. I have used the QRW lows on them all. Lots of eye relief, as well as cheek weld.

Scored
Scored on a good price and Phoenix Gun Range... on a Leupold VXR 4-12x40 Firedot with CDS dial for my 338wm Xbolt!
Paid $779.95
P&D wanted $999 for same scope.
I love P&D ...but $220 saved is $220 saved

I have a
3-9X50 CDS Firedot Plex on my 6.5x55
4-12X42 CDS Firedot Windplex on my 300 WM
I Really enjoy them. You get a ton of great features for the price. The CDS dial system is absolutely fantastic. The glass is good and the Firedot is very nice.
Overall I am very happy with them. I replaced both my Zeiss Scopes with them.

Thats an awesome price!! You wont regret it.
I have been using the same model on my go2 deer rifle and thus far have taken a dozen animals with it.
Tbh, I have only used the firedot a hand full of times in the field, however it is a great idea specially in low light/ dark background conditions..
You should also have a free cds dial coupon, you can submit the load info online at korth groups website, you will need sn on the scope. Mine came within 2 weeks. The new dial will have a zero stop. If you are using factory loads then it will be best to use the bullet velocity using a chrony, if you have one, instead of factory info. Makes it a little more accurate.
Great battery life also.

She is a beauty! Shoots amazing, pretty much the only rifle I hunt with now. Looking into getting one in a .243 in the other desert tan/SS model.

Just picked up my second vxr, a 1.25-4 for my BAR in 30-06. What a great little scope. Also have a 4-12x40 on my main hunting rig, an m77 in 270 win. Also a great scope. Lots of eye relief in both, and good glass. Have compared em sxs with vx3's and seem quite comparable. Don't use the firedot much, but it is nice in really low light.

They are leupold std 30mm mediums, good rings but I am thinking about getting the extended ones or put a pic rail on it because the way I hold the rifle, i need to move the scope forward 1/2" forward to get a proper eye relief..

Beautiful setup! You're right the black with a touch of gold/silver looks great! Looking forward to hearing how she shoots (would be interested in knowing the completely loaded weight and how you find the recoil too). Enjoy!
