Default had a good battle tonight with 2 dogs

Me and my dog went for our nightly walk tonight as usual. Took the same path as usual through some open bush. On the way back we were being followed by 2 dogs, smaller then mine, nothing I couldn't fight off if I had to. They were getting closer, circling us. I looked for owners but couldn't see any then I realized these are the dogs I always see running loose in our area. once they started getting to close for comfort I stopped and the circled us, one got close to my pup and my dog can definitley hold her her own but I tried to shoo the dog away, it then attacked my dog biting her and latched on, my dog snapped and started to fight back, then the other mutt circled me and came from behind. I kicked it as hard as I could then grabbed a stick from the ground and just started beating both of the mutts like crazy. They let go of my pup but then my dog was in defense mode and we tried leaving and they kept following. I had enough, found a good thick branch and chased the 2 dogs and started throwing rocks, sticks anything I could as they just wouldn't leave us alone. I got home told the wife what happened. Called the authority's and me and my pup went back out looking for them becasue we have kids, neighbors have alot of kids and they don't need to be attacked while playing outside. I couldn't find them and I hope they get caught but they tent to take off into the thick bush. They have owners as they have tags.

Now tonight was the only night I did not carry a knife with me for our walk and I would not think twice of putting any animal down if it attacked. Just PO'd that there are owners that let there dogs loose like this. My wife took a picture not long ago of them trying to get in our yard and growling at our dog and the neighbors dog. totally irresponsible and I wont feel bad for what I do if we run into them again.

rant over.

Sounds like some bear spray and a big stick should be accompanying you for your walks in the near future. These critters need neutralization something fierce.

<Cesar Milan> remember to be calm and assertive <Cesar Milan>

New breathing holes would be on the agenda, to be sure. Glad no one was hurt.

Please keep us posted on what happens if anything with authorities. We have new neighbors that turn their 5 dogs loose all night, and a couple may be in the cross hairs.

Forget the knife. Take a skinny six foot pole. Stabbing dogs might make you look crazy. Hitting them with a walking stick in defence, not so crazy.

Once, I had an experience with a very threatening german sheperd that barred his teeth at me. I lunged forward and agressively told him that he was a very bad dog....bad dog. He believed me and retreated with his tail between his legs. Dogs are basically stupid and will respond to that.

Some fellows might have a golf club with them in the park so that they can work on their putts

I tried every verbal word possible, talking normal, yelling, being stern. They were set on what they wanted and when I started being circled I new it was on.

Theres a German Shepard here that the owner walks off leash and the dog doesnt listen worth a squat. It runs at us and trys to nip me and the dog. I told the guy that if that dog does that to me my kids or my dog ever again them the dogs not going to have any teeth left....haven't seen him even walk it since

Default bad dogs

Gee, if that were me, and I were your size, I might fall on one of them and I am not sure their rib cage would take that weight. that is me being me, just a thought.

Oh, I agree 100%. A long pole to the head is probaly more effective while looking a little less stabby killer like is all, haha.

I once nearly killed a rottie with a bat that charged at one of my friends years ago. The dog puss'd out and ran away. I REALLY wanted to beat the owner with the same bat after that. She was a lazy slob.

LOL, I think the owner of these dogs must be related to the owner of that rottie LOL, these dogs are always loose so the owner must not care.

yeah no doubt... i would have ended their lives instantly if i couldve... no need for that... them dogs need to be put down... just dont put yourself in a position where you could get in trouble for doing it... and if you do hide the bodies lol... i think a good part of us here are farm raised and raised with the ideals that once a dog bites a human it is game over ... there are going to be many negative comments on to what i just said but i dont care anymore lol

I was raised on a farm and know what you mean. When a person goes for a walk and gets attacked by 2 dogs, that person has every right to do what they have to do to protect themselves and I would not feel one big bad about putting those animals down. I know theres many mothers that walk there very young kids and babys, whats next? them getting attacked? If they attack once they will do it again and again.

And if a dog bites a person for no reason then yes it should be put down

My wife has had similar issues with dogs when she walks our pup.
What does the law say about using pepper spray on vicious dogs?

Might need to pick up a can or two.

If its used for defensive purposes then you have full rights to use it.

Paintball gun. Freeze the paintpalls. OR in my perfect little imaginary world, warm paintballs filled with bear spray launched from a high end full auto gun.

Glad you guys came out ok Skeeter. I've killed dogs at large before in the country and really wouldn't hesitate to again.

Had the same issue with a neighbors dog. turns out the fine for having a dangerous dog at large is $500.00. After 2 of those it seems the dog is not around any more. lol

A big can of bear spray.Stick around until they start to recover, then give them some more.Repeat until the can is empty, and they likely won't come near you again.

I agree with you. I knew exactly how to deal with our dog problem. I was almost divorced over it. Next time............

Sometimes it best to deal with the problem without shouting it from the rooftops.
