Default Lesser Slave Lake

We had quite a week on Lesser Slave Lake from June 3 to June 7. We stayed at Norm's Walleye Camp in 'The Loft'. Very comfortable accommodations but if you have old knees it would be better to stay in the cabin where there are fewer steps to climb. The 'bite' had just started the day before we got there but we had no trouble catching lots of Walleye and Pike as soon as we got onto the water. The weather treated us well and we were able to fish the lake every day except Thursday. Dog Island was a treat this year as were our other favorite spots. We set our own length limits at well over the regs. We kept enough Pike and Walleye for a good fish feed. The vast majority of fish were caught on the troll in 5 - 6 feet of water. While we used several different hooks and spoons the producers were Len Thompson 5 of diamonds and Williams Wabbler Whitefish spoons (gold and silver as well as red/silver/blue). The nice thing about early June is the weeds are not snagging your lures every 50 feet. Also there was very little competition on the water last week as well. Hope the rest of you that visited Slave Lake and fished Lesser Slave Lake had as good a time as we did.
