Haven't seen much about Cavan on here since early in the season, so thought I would share. Water temp is around 19 celsius and a bit stained, lots of weeds growing and floating. But some decent fish came out to play.
Arrived about 3 and hit the lake, few lame attempts at throwing some flies, no dice. So moved to 5'6" ultralight and a small black and gold panther martin.
This guy, about 5 feet from my pontoon. Heavy and did not want to come up:
About half hour later hooked into this one, put on quite an aerial show!
Released both fish and home in time for dinner
Both were caught near the middle of the lake in 4.5-5m of water.
The power-baiters from shore didn't seem to have much luck on this day, but guys out on the water seemed to be doing alright. Saw a fair amount of people heading to the south part of the lake, but did not make it that far.
Get out and enjoy the sunshine!!
