Ice Fishing Reels

What are some of the best baitcasting reels for ice fishing? The one that I am using keeps freezing up.

LOL...it's probably your line that is the problem. A mono line or a power pro line holds up better in ice.

I would suggest a open face reel but, to help with your bait caster, try low temp lubricants, and a light lb test winter mono. the ony time i use a bait caster is fishing fo big pike or lake trout

I found out today a cheap fly reel makes a good ice fishing reel. Might want to check that everything it tight, Mine was falling apart by the time I landed my fish, and my thumb is numb from trying to slow it down on the runs she made. but well worth the pain. I use a couple different baitcasters with powerpro, and dont really have any problems with them icing up. Make sure you dont get snow or water on them if you lay them on the ice.
