Default Keel Guards for Kayaks

Like the title states, do the kayak users on here add a keel guard to their kayaks or is not necessary? Thanks!

Gorilla tape works well, cheap and you can replace it as required.

I have used waterproof butyl tape. has a foil outside and has some bounce to it. sticks well and its waterproof.
