Default Riflescope - stiff power ring

Have a Leupold VX-1 that has a very stiff power ring. I know this is a common issue discussed on the forum but I have no prior experience with warranty etc.

Is this something you've experienced or have sent in for service? Is it covered? What have been your outcomes with this issue?

Thanks.

Default Korth

Ship it to them.

They will fix it up. And send it back to you.

Had to do this a few times. No issues.

I have the same problem on one of mine, sent it in and it came back no charge.
Only problem is it’s still stiff.

Many scopes are that way, for the exact reason I have no idea. Throw lever, but their expensive. I used a large zip tie around the power ring as a throw lever and pulled it good and tight. Works good..

Default looks ghetto

But a buddy put a garden hose clamp over the adjustment ring and now there is enough purchase to actually change magnification.

These scopes should never have left the factory like this, but at least Leupold does fix it under warranty.

Take it out of the rings and see if it loosens up a bit. I had a swaro z5 that if the rings where tightened to much over spec the parallax focus knob and turret wouldn’t turn. The problem fixed it’s self when it was torqued to book specs of 19 in lbs. since then I go by the scopes book torque instead of the internets best practice spec.
