Default Either sex elk hunt

Hey guys. I got my either sex elk draw this year for December. I'm super pumped and have booked a full week off so I have some time to scout and have a half decent chance of some success. I'm curious if any of you guys have done this hunt at the same time and whether you had success. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

P.s. I'm not asking anyone to give me there spots as I plan to put in the work, however any tips would be appreciated as this is my first elk hunt.

Only available in 2-3 hunting areas as far as I know and the dates for one are fairly restrictive (15 day season). You can’t enter any other antlered or Antlerless draws if you enter this one.

Wainwright has an Either Sex Elk, But there isn't any scouting for that hunt. you Show up and take your chances. All the Elk Seem to Be on the other side of the highway in that special walk in access zone only

Those elk get hammered pretty hard during the month of November when the hunt includes the provincial park area. I was lucky enough to get a bull in the park a few years ago.

My advice, get a current copy of the cypress county landowners map, and start phoning the guys who run the major grazing leases in that area.

Next is, start practicing long distance shots, when you find a herd on the prairie, its tough to get close. Especially with the swirling wind
