Seems like things are starting to be worth pulling a tag in the next couple years
The numbers are looking good, the spring was great no bad snow storms and we are starting to see quite a few pronghorns around. I'm hoping they hand out a few more tags.

Ram crazy how do you judge a good one from a mediocre one?

I look for the horn to really hook way over, this gives them lots of length. When you measure the horn you take the outside length. This fools a lot of people, when you view them from the side they look like just an average pronghorn. Then they turn and look head on at you and you see just how long the horn is. Then you get the ones that look really tall from the side and this also screws with a lot of people, because they go straight up and don't hook over at the top. The top of the ear is 5" horn length. Then look for long prongs. The height of the prong off the head isn't necessarily a concern either, because you will get two measurements below the prong. Then the obvious thing is look for lots of weight. That's just what I look for others will disagree with me, but too each there own.

Thanks for the info ram crazy. I've only seen one in the valley zoo 30 years ago and figured this is the year for my tag if not this year then next more then likely. If I get drawn I'd like to pick your brain a little more about them.

Thanks again

Well I'm driving south Just got my Wyoming Pronghorn tag in mail yesterday. Got first 5 days of Wyoming season booked with a great father/son outfitter team and only myself and local hunting buddy have their camp to ourselves. Should be a great bowhunting trip

I'd say the biggest I've seen would be 78"-79" I haven't made it down to WMU 102 yet to take a look around. One day I will take a drive down there, but with it so dry down there you won't get around to far with the landowners not letting you out on their land.

I finally applied this year (still not sure I'll get it with our current priority but we shall wait and see) and man oh man its a dry year down there.

Could be a blessing not drawing, but hopefully that country gets some well needed rain and plenty of it!

It was Dry in New Mexico last year and the outfitter said it makes difference in how they grow their Horns.
I might be headed back next year and hope it's a wet year.
