Lots of good area north of Wandering River on both sides of Hiway 63. Take two quads or better yet an Argo. There is some solid ground but quite a bit of Muskeg also.

Lots of hunters so any spot close to a road gets pounded pretty hard but there are always a few taken the first few days of the season. After that you need to get back in the bush a ways.

Up 881 on the West side of the highway can be good if you get away from the road. The boys from Janvier are out there now so you would have a pretty tough time finding an easy one close to any road.

Good luck. They are there if you put the time in.

Haha that's too funny! Last year my first archery big game kill was a 3 year old bull moose. It was lots of work. I was tired and sore after. Slept like a rock that night. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Always shoot a moose thats stand in water , that way you can wash the dirty thing before you skin it and not dull your knife .

I like Bergerboys moose hunt. However if you have well designed heavy duty quad trailer changes picture.
1) shoot moose 2) chain saw trail to moose 3) winch moose onto trailer, 4) Drive moose to truck 5) skin and load quarters on truck. Can be a one man show. I use to use Bergerboys technique when I was young and stupid.

After being part of a couple dozen moose you get a few different systems down. It really doesn't have to be that hard, but I've been there hand sawing through the back shoulders by hand or chopping them with an axe.
I'm no longer worried about having to do a moose on my own, sometimes I much rather prefer it to tell you the truth. I personally have it down to about 45 mins for a fully quartered and gutted moose ready to load on a machine. I've done them quicker with my best hand but I never try to rush, that is the key I found.

You can halve a moose with just a knife but it's really important to split the shoulders ASAP, if not take the hide off at least then. I swear by using a chainsaw with cooking oil for this reason. It is also the reason why I can take care of a moose so quick as well. If a guy wants as well you can get electric cordless chainsaws now that work amazingly well. I just have learned over time to not trust them as much as the gas powered units. Seems the batteries die or go weak at the worst time possible. I have finished up many moose with my gas chainsaw cause cordless sawzalls ran out of juice in the bush even with spare batteries.

My last moose took 3 batteries in the cordless reciprocating saw to split it. This year we will be taking a generator and electric saw.

Yup, last moose I got with the bow took me four hours start to finish by myself but the whole ordeal from the beginning of the morning sit to head on pillow was 12hrs...a great day in the woods.

Look up gutless method, a little bit of rope, come along a tree or two sure helps but you can roll a moose by yourself...just make sure you keep the curse words under your breath might offend a squirrel or two
