biggest spoons you got or the biggest plugs you got. if your bait fishing use 10 inch or even 12 inch bait if you can find it. BIG!!!

There's gotta be one or two good ones in there, but for the most part you're right...from the couple times I was out there earlier this year you catch about 60 hammerhandles to every decent sized pike.
If you're in a boat you'll do fine tossing big hardware, but if you're fishing from shore the weeds are bad and bait fishing will probably save you some frustration. For bait, anything big and fishy will work just fine.

I chuck huge hardware out there now. Size 14-17 rapalas, mepps musky killers, super shadraps, thundersticks, etc. all have caught little 1-1.5lbers, so you're not excluding smaller pike. Sometimes they're only twice the size of my hook. but the big ones will usually only put in energy when the bait is worth the effort. Might not catch as many smaller fish, but catching 50 hammer handles isn't the funnest for me, so I started going for fewer but larger fish.

Coal is thick with weeds....even trolling down the middle of the lake you will find them. The depth there at deepest is right around 20 feet or so......
