Default Wild eggs

Are migratory bird eggs protected by any laws?
Could a person get in trouble for moving/destroying a nest?
What about taking the eggs to eat or incubate?

These are the questions that keep me awake at night...

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 (MBTA) is the law that makes it illegal to harvest wild eggs.

Not sure if this American or Canadian, but imagine it is similar in both places

you cannot move a nest or eggs

At the upgrader geese were a problem if they found a nest they would spray the eggs with vegetable oil to kill the eggs this would discourage nesting pairs to return this was done by permit from the fish cops.

In the old days if they found a nest with a few eggs they would mark them with a pencil then return each day to harvest the fresh eggs.

Last week the Desert Cactus duck nest got raided by a local Roadrunner.

Mama Mallard moved her second nest into our front entrance, she doesn't spend alot of time laying or sittin on her eggs. Desert ducks are weird, they will eat oranges that fall from trees & prefer to waddle away vs fly.

Don't touch it.
