It will be closing because of careless use of firearms at the range. People shooting up everything from microwaves, t.vs,funiture and etc... p.s including the Use of Rules Sign... people leaving it all littered with this stuff and not cleaning it up and using it for dumping grounds. Someone has to ruin it for everyone is how it goes i guess.

That's really too bad when people act like that and show no respect

The area is a beautiful one but the shooter trash is unbelievable. The bad dangerous/behavior and garbage overflowed from the range itself to the approach roads. The surrounding area is filled with hikers and others using the outdoors, the shooters do not have a monopoly on the area. The approach to the range has been a mess for years with people dumping anything to shoot at including appliances. I've used the range itself but gave up in recent years seeing the stupidity of other users. Not sure what it is, lack of training or just firearms in the wrong hands. All ranges I've belonged to had rules and policies but over there if I mentioned safety factors I was met with anger instead of thanks.

I had a very close call while fishing the Jumpingpond Creek (For the Trout Unlimited project) from "target shooters" that did not consider using a backdrop. I came within inches of taking a high-caliber slug while wading the creek. I did report it and was not the only one reporting close calls in the area. I hear the approach is now posted against casual target practice and I welcome that.

It is a shame that a shooting facility so close to the city is closed and some may say it's because of a few bad apples, it seems to be many more than a few in my view. I don't have an answer for unsafe practices which certainly does not belong in the shooting sports. Unfortunately with such visible unsafe use will come more laws and closures. More fuel for the anti's. A shame for all considerate hunters and shooters.

Keep safe out there
