Default How accurate is iHunter?

How accurate is iHunter's crownland map?

I was driving past porcupine hills yesterday and noticed that some areas it showed as crown land were fenced?

Is there anywhere you can get more official maps to avoid possible trespassing?

Tia

I find it to be pretty accurate.

Just because it has a fence, doesnt mean its private. Lots of crown has fencing on it, so dont use that as your only way of telling.

The best maps is county maps to tell if its crown or not. You can buy the county map on Ihunter and it will superimpose the information onto the maps/ satellite images. Works great.

Often times iHunter maps are a few years old and you need to purchase an updated map once available.

The area's could also be a grazing lease.

I use this Recreational Access Internet Mapping Tool. Very helpful.

I'm guessing the O.P. isn't from Alberta and doesn't know about grazing lease on crown land. If that's the case, O.P., a lot of crown land is being leased for agriculture purposes and they have different titles with different set of rules, you have some research to do.

Thanks everyone for the input

It is correct that I am not from Alberta, not even Canada but, I am an Alberta resident now

I find the land access system here pretty complicated which is why I'm asking the question, none the less i am very impressed with the crown land available here for public use. I'm just trying to stay on the right side if the law and not **** anyone off

Hey, thanks for sharing this link, I've been looking for something other than iHunter where I don't have to pay for the updates or the layers all the time for everywhere I want to go. If I could only figure out a way to download this to my GPS now...but thanks for sharing, appreciate it!

I have had to alert them in the past of properties they had listed as huntable which definitely were not. Use it as a guide but don't take it as gospel as they are not responsible for the accuracy of the product.

This is solid advice and also don’t rely on IHunter for your hunting regs they have had mistakes in the past

The accuracy of the GPS within the app is +/- 4 meters.
