Default waterton Reservoir

Anyone out there have experience on the waterton reservoir? I grew up in the area but never fished it due to a boat and my brother and i are thinking about heading out there today. Any advice... don't go, go and do this... etc etc.
thanks

I spent a day there shore fishing on the res and a bit down on the river below....stunk. When I talked to locals, including some people at Pat's in Waterton, they all said it's been really bad.
Barry Mitchell's magazine disagrees tough...

FYI - I was the only person I saw fishing there all day. That should have tipped me off.... Pretty drive though and some nice communities along the way.
Anyone I talked to who was local and fishing on waterton lake, in the townsite about 45 min away or so if I recall, said reservoir stinks.

There's a great little lake near there that is much better than the resevoir. I can't think of the name of it, so ask some locals next time you go; I'm sure they'd point you over to it.

Payne Lake is over next to Mountain view. I believe the lake he is referring to is known as Dipping Vat.

Incept: that's the one I was thinking of. I've never heard of anyone having much luck in the Waterton Dam Resevoir.

I am inclined to agree. The dam really does not produce all that well. It can be done however the slow days far outweight the good ones. Dipping vat has some hogs however it has been alittle slow this year as well..

Dipping Vat has had summer kill on occasion. There is more nutrients in the water that enters the lake from the intensive agricultural practices that have gone on in recent years, lots of weeds in summer, water quality is worse. Payne lake is a better choice.
