Default Hunting Rabbits with a Friend

Greetings and Salutations!

My first post here, after lurking for a while. I've been reading quite a few posts here lately and am happy to finally be registered!

While I was raised around firearms, hunting and fishing. I lost touch with my roots after moving to the Big city (Calgary) ~15 years ago. I've recently been re-discovering my love of the Outdoors and grabbed my PAL as well.

While I took the full Hunters Education and Conservation course (Camp and all) back in the 90's as a kid in school, I didn't have a Hunters Education certificate number. I called AHEIA and asked, was instructed I had to take the course again... Unfortunately I just recently started the online course and missed the chance to put in for the big game draws...

Anyway, since I've gotten my PAL a few people have asked if I could supply them with some rabbits. Seems these can be hunted in AB without a license and year round. However I was wondering, if I took a friend with me, and they didn't have their PAL, could they shoot rabbits as well under my direct supervision? I believe the answer is yes, but I figured I'd ask around either way.

The answer is yes under your supervision.

I do believe that if there is a firearm in you friend's hand then there cannot be one in yours. Contact rcmp to confirm. Also I have been under the impression that even if a hunting license is not required a hunter's ed certificate is. This would go for your friend as well even if they are under your supervision.

Not true....you can both have firearms as long as he is under your direct supervision...And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I also believe you can hunt rabbits without hunter ed.

Pretty sure you don't need hunter's ed to hunt rabbit.

Hunters ed is mostly for obtaining your wildlife certificate now. In the past you can just say you got some sort of training and that was it. I took mine anyways because it good to knowledge to have.

Both wrong.
You both can be shooting, and you do not need a hunters ed certificate.
