Default 2014 draw summary results are out!

http://mywildalberta.com/hunting/Hun...t/Default.aspx

I was disappointed when i found out i wasn't drawn for mule buck this year, but found out they dropped the tag numbers by almost 30 tags,

oh well there's always next year.

Let's see how many "dang system" complaints continue to flood in with the tags numbers out....

Thanks for posting.

Looks like not as many people applied for the 438 draw this year as last year. I was one of the luck 0.36 % who were successful.

Question:

Do we get a priority point after we purchase a draw or do we get a priority point after the draw itself is done?

Thanks

800 W\T Doe tags in WMU 108? ....is there that many W\T in the WMU?....I'm new to the Lethbridge area and got this draw...Two things Just crossed my mind..

1.I'll be wearing head to Toe Blaze orange bird\deer hunting
2.Maybe I shouldn't use this tag

Really interesting results. In 2010 a P4 had a 29.8% chance of getting a mule buck in the wmu I hunt, whereas in 2014 a P7 had a 53.6%.

Mule deer tags in my zone cut in half. Hopefully they cut the outfitters tags in half.

Default Mule Buck Trophy Wmu's

They Doubled up the Mule Buck Tag #'s in some Prairie Trophy zones from 10 to 20 tags.Ei...wmu's 138,136,134,132....in 2009,2010,2011,2012 they only gave out 5 mule buck tags in these Wmu's.....last year 10 tags...now 20 tags!...IMO 20 tags in these area's is about right on the money after you add in land owner\outfitter tags,predation\roadkill,etc!

I'm pretty certain we hunt the same WMU. Honestly the area I hunt within the WMU I had not seen so much as a spiker in 2011 and 2012. Last year I saw a HUGE number of 3 point and smaller bucks running around. So hopefully in a year or 2 our wait times may drop slightly.

IMO there is no need for a WT doe draw in 108.

What do you mean by purchase a draw?

They have culled the things by the hundreds during the winter in that zone.

Yup.

It's past time to thin them down. Hope that happens before EHD spreads to this area.

I'd love to know how they get their numbers, a lot of them don't make sense at all.

I'm going to assume he meant an application. Priority changes are done after the draws are completed. That is to say, if you check your priority when you apply, that is the priority you have when they do the draw. If you are unsuccessful, then you gain a point.

Seems my P10 is chasing a dream on the 720 bull elk draw. I have been 1 point behind the lowest successful applicants for 4 years now.

That year I missed applying due to being in Yellowknife for the summer really stings now

Ouch! Not one you want to miss a year for.

I am also wondering where all the mistakes are. I know in my Mulie zone we used to get a draw on a 3. Every once in a while on a 2. I was a 5 this year and no dice. Last year there was 39 tags given out. This year there was 127. There is 174 P5's in that WMU. 58 were drawn. So in reality, I still may not be drawn next year. 8 years to wait for a mulie tag is a long bloody time! Might it be time to try a different zone?

Same is happening in the peace region wmu I use to hunt. Last time I was up there was a p3 or 4 to get drawn, now p6 is required. Just means when a person finally gets drawn it will be that much more of a rewarding hunt.

X2....in the Praires...it use to be a P3.....now it's a P8.

population explosion and less tags in some Wmu's I hunt in....

except for the eastern prairie WMU'S....they seem to be hammering the herd out that way.

Hopefully Bird hunting doesn't go on draw someday

Like always, some guys need to do their homework before entering draws. Use 7 priority in a wmu where u can get in with a 0.....
