Default calling cows?

looked through the search function and did not trip over the answer to my question so here it is when you are hunting a cow moose what sort of call do you use to locate them I know how to call in a bull but am kind of puzzled as to what I should do to call in a cow or if it can even be done.

thanks in advance
Sheldon

Curteck - I've never really tried to call in a cow but this last weekend when we were out, we did have one calling near us after we started cow calling. Not sure if she would have called whether we did or not or if our calling got her worked up enough to start calling herself.

The only other time I can think of where calling kind of worked on a cow moose was one instance where I used a fawn in distress deer call to try to stop some deer leaving a cutblock. For some reason a cow came busting into the open and let rip with this ridiculously frightening scream.

For the most, I really don't think calling is an effective way to target cows. At least not that I know of. I would focus more on just hunting quietly where there is lots of fresh sign.

Best of luck to you.

The best way to call in a cow is to call in the bull she is with. Otherwise good luck, find where she is eating and sit there, can also stalk when she is bedded down.

My partner has called them in before with a calf call. Maybe just lucky?
