Gained basically the equivalent of two Red Deers in a year. Sure glad the UCP decided against building a new hospital in Edmonton!

Breakdown of growth:

8% natural population increase (births)
27% from other Canadian provinces
26% permanent immigration
39% temporary international residents (study permits, work permits, etc)

Even though I agree a new hospital would be wise one of the reasons people are moving to Alberta from within Canada is the political differences compared to the provinces they are leaving. Your issues with Albertas healthcare system is a Canada wide issue not just because of a political party

Definitely need more focus on infrastructure development to keep up to population growth and you won’t get any argument from me there. We also need to cut back on immigration because we presently don’t have the infrastructure to support or even plans to address that

According to Alberta government stats, most growth is from foreign countries. Europe, Asia, Africa. Majority of provinces have mostly outflow towards Alberta. Some in BC, Toronto have taken there lottery winning’s from real estate sales, moved to more practical province. Lower taxes, better provincial government, whom not on big spending spree. Paying down debt. Ms. Smith is providing leadership whereas rest of Canada 🇨🇦 isn’t. People are attracted to confidence. UCP are proving their point.

So 124000 of those are temps.
54000 from other provinces which means probably 1/2 or more are headed back to NFLD,Quebec,And Ontario between shifts and or permanently as soon as they have made bank.
Which means a real increase of maybe 30000?

Wouldn't it be nice to collect provincial tax on these 54,000. At 20,000 per that's 10.8 million per year in to the Alberta coffers.
