Tight lines.

aaand you believe the constant pushing for Cross Lake. sounds like another hastings ruse to me. just make sure you pm someone who has actually fished there. there are certain folk who will send you on a wild perch chase. its as if the perch are made of gold.
read between the lines. pm people, and get a real answer.
mind you I never fished cross, so its possible. just get some REAL feedback.
at least its not the dead slough/swamp that certain people on AO tried to send perching. aka Miquelon park slough.

I believe Cross is a decent fishery from all research I have done. Jumbos can definatley be had and it sounds like this year it is fishing very good.
But do I go on to AO threads asking people where they are going in a way that foils the lake for other people who may fish it as their own secret perch lake? I know how I would feel...
Like I said I dont care because I have my own perch gem, but I know what you mean with people sending guys on wild goose chases, I was on iceshanty when all that hastings stuff went down.

X2, that could have been some dangerous situations when those people posted to go to lake X and lake Y .That was very immature of those members to do something like that .

first off apology to the original poster-this is a side rant.
replier, you and other like you are one of the reasons AO forum isn't as good a place as it could be. a shame, we should be trying to help new people. if you want to keep your honey hole secret, thats fine. but sending people DELIBERATELY to a lake with no fish is just ---------how about just giving a few tips, or a starter lake.
giving false locations, false advice is the end of sport fishing. you can die happy an old man, knowing you-never helped anyone learn the sport, and kept all them fish, yep you can be content. its your personal trophy. wheeeeeeee I am so done with this AO crap. I there NO One left that cares to pass on a tip or two? or teach the younger people to fish?
and after 8 plus years on AO, I think I have had enough of this.
I came here trying to find a few people into the sport. there were some, and I did help some out. but its gotten to bragging rights and protect the honey hole at all costs.
They say hunting and fishing is a dying sport. have fun in your old age.
rant over, bye.
http://www.huntingfortomorrow.com/index.htm
should also include fishing for tomorrow.

....but in case you are serious, I will refer you to this thread. Read it, then understand why some people are pushing Cross Lake.

Oh, and if you really are super serious, get ready to be mocked mercilessly.

I got a nasty one from him too, and reported him to the administrator with a copy of the pm. Put him on the ignore list. Cross lake is decent with a few big ones, I will give a few tips on lakes but will also keep my very speacial one's secret. There are better lakes that I go to where all the perch are over 10" not just a few. Do not PM me as I will only tell you what I said here.
By the way, has anyone tried thunder lake in the last couple of years? It used to be good untill winter kill years back, just wondering if its starting to make a comeback or not.
I think they should put a C & R on all lakes for perch for one full year and see what happens. Might be good to do this every second year. JMO
Just imagine, how many perch are pulled every year accross the province. 1000 fisherman, X 15 perch, X 5 outtings. = 75,000 perch
Now let 1/2 of those 75,000 perch reproduce one year. 37,500 X 1000 eggs = 37.5 million baby perch + the original 75,000 adult perch. What would the perch fishing be like in 6 to 10 years? And how big would the walleye, pike and even perch get with all that extra food?
Imagine if they closed all lakes for all fish for say just 1 or 2 years.
Just saying, let nature do it's thing for say one or two years and see what happens. You do the math. JMO
Just food for thought.
