Default Battle lake access

Hello

I am thinking of trying battle lake for ice fishing and need to know how to get on it? I have never been there yet so I am going in blind and need basic (read dummy proof) directions.

Thanks guys.

You will be on the lake within 5 minutes of exiting the highway.

Don't drive on Battle without your windows open and a life jacket. The ice there is very inconsistent as there is current, springs and high levels of gasses ........ stay safe .... let us know how you do.

If you google map it - Hwy 13 take range road 14 or 15, northbound, up to Twp 462.

Take Twp 462 west and stay left at the "Y" after you come down the hill and wind around sort of northbound, the campground is on your left.

It's a 5-7 minute drive from the highway.

Thank you EZM.

I won't be driving on as I don't have a 4x at this time, all foot and sled to go on. Once I am on where would you recomend to fish, to the right or left and how far? By the talk about it, I should pick a differant lake.

I google mapped it and there was no indication of the campground.

I went today for the first time ever at this lake. Was a tough day of blowing snow and all I had to show was a couple hammer handles and a 3" perch. A few fish seen on LX7 but wouldn't bite. Swiss cheesed holes from 8-25ft first to the right (3/4 to point) then to the left past the other point.

Slow is an understatement. Anyone have tips for this lake?

On another note f&w were out trudging through the snow. Good to see their presence.

Battle is a hit or miss lake ......... sometimes it's awesome ........ other times it can be tough.

Along the weedlines directly across from the launch and along the east shore are pretty good - just find the drop offs.

Went out to battle the other night looking for burbot never got anything. Was not haappy with the county not plowing out the parking lot there is absolutley no place to park just a trail in and out. And a ski-doo or quad is a must unless you plan on fishing close to the campground. Not as much snow on the lake as I thought there would be.

Right. There was only room for 3-4 cars to pile in front of the registration box. I did notice trucks parked on the bank a few hundred yards up from the launch. Talked to a guy and he said it's the next road down after the camp.
