Has anyone been out on Chip yet and if so what are the ice conditions like?

Default Chip lake

Out on the skidoo water under the snow found some decent ice about 8" there are some places at over a foot but seems rotten or soft. I wouldn't take a truck on it.

I have always heard chip was a giant shallow weedy slew - are there any Pike and Perch worth giving that lake a try?

The fishing in the Lobstick River at the west end of the lake can be very good for pike and burbot where it meets the lake.

Caught some nice Burbot out of it last year. All the pike I caught were not very big but there was lots of them.

it IS a giant shallow weedy lake.... but it has a constant flow of water from a few different sources and there are lots of fish in it.

There are a bunch of islands on the lake, and avg depth is about 6', but some days you cant keep them off at Chip....

Never heard of perch being caught. Lots of small to medium pike and burbs though.
