Got our first marten and fisher today.

They both look good.

The ravens ate two fox on us yesterday or very early this morning and the snares had been set less than 48 hour.

Good trapping everyone

Wish you were up in the Edmonton area and I would take you out and check a few spots. I don't mind taking a kid out to show him a little even though I only know a little

Thanks! Not really many people down here, let alone taking me out! But I'm still hoping, just going to do Weasel this season and get a hold of everything!

Good luck FlyTrapper. Nice to see!

This thread rocks every year. Keep them pictures coming.

Little bit of a side question for anyone willing to answer, are there any Edmonton Local Trapping groups at all?

As I think we all know, I'm not very qualified to be answering questions in this area but I do believe it is called the Greater Edmonton Trappers Local. But I'm not sure.

Did my first lift today and picked up six marten. Few inches of snow out there which is nice for tracks. I have 70 sets out so far

Is that a common problem? Having hunters on your line? Do they tamper or just keep animals away?

Default culvert set

While checking some gear Sunday I noticed some open water on each side of road, there are 2 large ponds, one on north side and the other on south side, so I pulled over to have a look see, have permission to trap on north side of road, there happened to be about a 3-4 foot culvert running from one side to other, as I took a swallow of coffee I noticed a wake come from under the ice, then another and another, saw 8 different ones in a matter of a minute, so got out and had a look see, went down and watched rat after rat come and dive to bottom of culvert and swim inside, well well could it be any more obvious, so having numerous colony traps in back of my GMC, I proceeded to cover the whole bottom of that culvert, took 5 to do the job, well I was catching them rats before I even got last colony in the water, did first check tonight, landed a baker's dozen nice good sized rats, total fur count so far 95 rats and a fox, putting out coyote gear soon, can't wait, in meantime love the rat game, will hit the triple digits for rats tomorrow Happy Trapping Peter

Default Time to go

Well guys, time to head out and get some fur happing. Be spending time getting
trails opened up, and repairing and replacing boxs the bears have tore down. Have not seen the line cabin since Feb, so hoping it's still there and not destroyed by some ill mannered bear.

I rebuilt the engine on my 300 Tundra as it was getting up in miles.
Once we get the trails cleaned up, i take the new 550 tundra, much nicer ride.
The trails get very overgrown over summer with willows and small tree's that really hard on machines.
I'll get some pics up when i'm back.
The Marten Magic lure is starting to smell good!!

Have extra 20 boxes built and ready to go.

AO member Steve and I set traps yesterday on my new line. Checked them today and caught 10 marten and a mink. Can't wait to check again tomorrow.
