Tickets Master epic scalping fail
https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4828535
Unbelievable. TicketMasters executives should be jailed for corrupt business practices.

Being so close to the Banff Centre we get top entertainment for $50.00 and under without having to drive to Calgary and no ticketmaster. Just to mention a few.
Blue Rodeo
Stompin Tom
Steve Earl
Bela Fleck
Great Big Sea
Corb Lund
Ian Tyson
And a whole lot more. Location location.

Looks like capitalism is working. Ticket master is making a profit as are it's associates. And customers are paying what they feel those tickets are worth.
Supply and demand...

Although this practice is unethical, it's seems that it's not illegal.
Many will be outraged and Some will boycott Ticketmaster.
But Most will continue to purchase resold (scalped tickets) for high demand events.
Business as usual the day after tomorrow unless the law changes.
So ....... I'd disagree that this is an "epic fail" on the part of Ticketmaster .... to the contrary ...... this is an epic feat of capitalistic brilliance.

When a retail seller sells at a price agreed to by the artist to a secret group of businesses who in turn sell for an inflated price and the retailer colludes to create the platform for such activity by law there is grounds for legal concern and certainly ethical concerns.
Apply that to anything you buy. As a business if it feels icky likely it is.
They are in breach of their own rules. They are collecting and therefore colluding to collect double fees.

Ticketmaster is the most evil company out there. We stopped going to any events that only sell through them. They are not getting a cent from us!

They may be the 2nd most evil, when the cost of Daraprim dictated by Martin Shkreli went from $13.75 to $750.00 per pill, a 5000% price increase that likely put him on top of the list.
But yes, being forced to pay twice as much to see Lady Gaga or whoever is just so goshdarn evil
First world problems LOL!

Not wanting to poopoo on your taste in music, but none of those would be considered top tier talent. Scalpers would not be wasting their time on Ian Tyson, so I think your pretty safe on those no matter where you get them. And if someone is trying to sell you Stompin Tom tix, I would probably pass!!
